English (ELICOS)

English Language Intensive Courses for Overseas Students (ELICOS) are offered by several well-established institutions in Canberra. Students usually study English language courses on a full-time basis, and comprise of 20 hours of classroom lessons per week.

ELICOS courses often incorporate the following:

The ANU College
is the English language and academic pathway provider for the Australian National University (ANU), and welcomes international students planning to study in Australia.

The University of Canberra
has been offering English language courses continuously since 1969 and is one of the longest established English centres in Australia. The University of Canberra is also the only official testing centre for the IELTS Test (International English Language Testing System) in Canberra.

Canberra Institute of Technology
offers English language courses for students to meet the minimum entry requirements for further study at CIT or tertiary institutions.
